There are many treatment options for acne scars -- not just lasers. Which treatment option is right for you depends on the specific type of acne scarring you have. Dermatologists have a classification system for acne scars: rolling, boxcar, and ice-pick. Which type of acne scar you have will determine what treatment is best for you: dermabrasion, dye-pulse laser, V-Beam/Smoothbeam laser, or even dermal fillers (Restalyne is the only one I would recommend -- it provides truly long-term results). All of these treatments have different prices. Also, some of these treatments are not appropriate for certain skin types (like those who are prone to keloid scarring).
I would *not* recommend going to a medical spa. They will sell you whatever you are willing to pay for, whether it will provide you a benefit or not. Go to an experienced dermatologist who offers a full range of services and get a full consultation.

yea, I used to have real bad acne, i mean BAD! I would pop my pimples, scrub my face with alcohol and peroxide, but later found out that I wasn't suppose to do none of that, lol! I got on minocycline for about 2 months and did the tropical and the recommended facial wash and was left with having clear acne free skin w/ scars, ugh, i was so over it, so this may sound a lil crazy/ghetto, lol! but Miracle Whip, yes the shyt you use to make ham n cheese sandwiches with!! It really works! I started doing it every day and then started once or twice a week, but this is what i did;
-Wake up, thank tha Lord for another day, lol!
-Brush my teeth and wash my face with HOT water, to open up the pores..
-Run downstairs (hello, workout!) to the fridge and get out the MIRACLE WHIP, run back up stairs and apply a thin layer on my face..
-I usually walk around and start looking for me something to wear and set it out on my bed, just to waist time, b/c I usually leave it on for at least 15-20 minutes..
-Get in the shower, wash it off, followed by my normal ';Green Tea Facial Wash'; and boom, healthy glowing, flawless milky looking skin!
The ladies at work be hating on my skin, they be tryin ta lick they finger to see if I got makeup on, but long story short, it works, try it out tonite and email me ta tell me about it..

My flatmate swears by it. I had mild acne a couple of years ago and it left some scars. i used tee tree oil (from superdrug or chemist) and it cleared them up. Took some months to clear up tho. Does Bio oil work on acne scars??? =S?

i don't mind acne scars. everyone gets acne sometime in their life. too bad would be u don't even know if they are black or white because of the scars. girls shouldn't care about what u look like, if they do, they ain't right for u.What do girls think about acne scars, and how bad is too bad?
it depends on the girl. but r u taking care of yourself, like washing your face everyday? cuz then u probably wont have to worry about it too much. but hey, if ya want a nice girl thats not all snotty and perfect, i'd say shes probably not going to mind that much. why bother? it's acne. lots of people get acne. people that dont are pretty darn lucky. the only thing i might think is that you were a little lazy with the washin...What do girls think about acne scars, and how bad is too bad?

On the other hand, if you still have massive breakouts,
go see a skin care specialist. They will take out the
black and whiteheads and gently condition your skin with
crystal dermabrasion so that you get less acne and regain healthy skin eventually. Cosmetically, one product that really worked was Estee Lauder's Fruition with Alpha Hydroxy Acid (AHA).
One bottle was pricey, at about $75.00, though.
If the scars/pits are so deep that when you scrap your nails gently on the skin and it gets stuck, then it's really bad. Find out what the doctor can do.
